SEATTLE, WA—The Yankees bounced back from their walk off loss on Monday in an impressive way. The bombers took this one 5-0, improving to 4-1 on the season.
Their offense, backed on a two-out first inning rally against one of Seattle’s best pitchers, Logan Gilbert, gave the Yankee ace Max Fried a 2-0 lead before he took the mound. Like a good ace, Fried was lights out. The team was 11-1 following a loss in 2025 with Fried on the mound; now, he’s 1-0 in 2026.
Pitching Highlight
Fried was phenomenal. He had all seven pitches working this evening. He was working quickly and efficiently, giving the Yankees seven shutout innings, allowing just three hits and a walk.
Fried has been exactly what the Yankees needed this season, and especially today with the bullpen short after Monday’s loss which saw the Yankees use five relievers.
Hitting Highlight
Ben Rice continues to be productive in the Yankees lineup. He got the scoring started for the Yankees in the first inning after a two-out single by Cody Bellinger. His at-bats are a grind constantly and wear out the pitcher.
Also, Rice’s defense at first base has improved a lot. His scoops have been much better at first and he looks more comfortable at the position. This should only progress as the season goes on.
Notable:
Before the game, Yankees manager Aaron Boone announced that left-handed pitcher Carlos Rodon is experiencing tightness in his right hamstring while running on Monday. He was able to still throw his bullpen Tuesday. The team does not seem too concerned, but something could arise over the next few days. If all goes well, Rodon could begin a rehab assignment over the weekend in AA Somerset.
Also notable, Giancarlo Stanton has started the season with five straight multi-hit games. He looked really comfortable in the batters box, collecting his 500th and 501st RBI’s in a Yankee uniform.
What’s Next:
Tomorrow, the Yankees and Mariners will square off in the rubber match of the series with another good pitching matchup. New York will send out Cam Schlittler, opposed by George Kirby. The game will be at 4:40 pm on the YES Network.
More to Come.
