SEATTLE, WA—The Yankees have won back-to-back series for the first time in 2026, winning this one 5-3, improving to 5-1 on the young season.

The Yankees offense scored four runs in the series finale, but that was enough to win the game, and the series against their American League foe.

The Yankees starting pitching continues to impress to start the season, which takes pressure off their offense, and puts it on the other team.

Camilo Doval struggled in the eighth inning, leading to closer David Bednar needing to come in and clean up his mess.

Pitching Highlight

Who else but the starter of today’s game to be the highlighted pitcher. Cam Schlittler was dominant once again. It’s only his second start of 2026, but there is a lot to get excited about when watching him pitch.

His velocity was down a tad, most likely because of the cold, but his stuff played up. The Seattle lineup is nothing to sleep on, and Schlittler dominating them is a good sign, as this could be an ALCS matchup.

Hitting Highlight

Paul Goldschmidt got a rare start against a right hander. It paid off. After Kirby walked two batters in the sixth inning, giving Goldschmidt an at bat with two outs. He hit a three run home run to give the Yankees a 4-0 lead. The Yankees needed insurance going into the late innings, and Goldschmidt provided it in a big way.

It was also the first Yankee home run of the series.

Notable:

The Yankees have hit just four home runs in their first six games. They are 5-1. In years past, the Yankees have lived and died on the home run ball. In the early goings, they have not. The Yankees are finding ways to score in other ways, which is good to see.

Also notable, Aaron Judge is struggling early on, which he had done early in the season at times. The team is winning without him, but this offense will be unstoppable when he gets going.

What’s Next:

The Yankees will head home for an off day Thursday, and play the Miami Marlins in the Yankees home opener on Friday. Will Warren will get the start for the Yankees, while the Marlins will start Eury Perez. First pitch will be at 1:35pm on YES.
