SAN FRANCISCO, CA—The Yankees finish off the sweep of the Giants. For the third season in a row, they begin the year with a sweep. They took tonight’s game 3-1 over the Giants, improving to 3-0 on the season.

Will Warren made his first start of 2026. It was not the best start for Warren. He threw a ton of pitches and was in constant trouble throughout the outing. Still, Warren was able to escape the outing, only giving up one run over 4.1 innings, throwing 83 pitches.

The Yankees’ offense did a good job working up the pitchout of starter Tyler Mahle. They got his pitch count up to 69 after three innings. They had limited traffic until the Yankees finally broke through in the third inning. After a Trent Grisham ABS challenge that gave him a walk and a Cody Bellinger single, Ben Rice drove a ball off the wall in right field, which gave the Yankees two runs.

Stanton then lined a ball into left for a base hit, and Luis Rojas sent Rice to the plate, where he was gunned out at the plate to end the inning.

After Mahle left the game, the Yankees added on just one run. It was a solo blast off the bat of Aaron Judge, his second of the season. This came from the lefty Ryan Borucki, whom Judge has faced plenty of over the years.

Brent Headrick, Jake Bird, Tim Hill, and closer David Bednar worked scoreless innings in setup. The Yankees’ defense helped out a bit, turning three double plays behind them, having four total of the day. All four double plays turned ended the subsequent innings, and the game
